Q)  Can you help me to get a fight?
A) Yes, we have connections at all 3 major stadiums in Chiang Mai, all of the major
and minor stadiums and venues in Bangkok and in numerous other smaller stadiums /
festivals / events in all over Northern Thailand.
Q ) I'm already in great shape and I have ____ years of experience in Muay
Thai / MMA and I have faught ____ times. I can only stay in Thailand for 2
weeks to train with you. Can you still get me a fight?
A) We can get you a fight, no problem, we will even work your corner... but unless you
have trained with us for a month or more previously, you will be fighting under your
home gym's name, not Chay Yai Gym's name. Please
contact our promoter for more
information.
Q)  How much sparring is there?
A) As much as you want. Friday afternoons are almost 100% dedicated to sparring,
but really all it takes is asking another fighter to go a few rounds with you. You won't
have trouble finding someone.
Q)  Do you teach Muay Boran / Muay Chaiya
A) Not in the traditional sense, but rest assured, the techniques that actually work
from these arts are alive and well in modern Muay Thai, and the first month or two of
your training (footwork, proper Muay technique) will more or less be the fundamentals
of Muay Boran.
Q)  Do you teach Krabi Krabong?
A) No.
Q) What happened to your BJJ program? Will you be offering that again soon?
A) We actually only offered BJJ classes for a short time a few years back. The trainer
who was visiting with us went home, and we haven't been able to update our website
as we have been out of touch with the guest who helped us design it. We do not
presently offer BJJ classes, nor do we intend to in the immediate future. For residents
of Chiang Mai, we highly recommend "Chaing Mai Brazilian Jiujitsu" on Moon Muang
Rd.
Q)  Do I have to spar?
A) Of course not, and you won't be looked down upon if you don't. Some of our
favorite guests have been here just to experience Thai culture or to get in great
shape.  You should try it however, if you ever want to be able to use what you learn
here. Naturally, if you plan on fighting, then of course, you will have to spar first.
Remember, our sparring sessions are done at 70% speed and power with full
protective equipment.
Q) What happened to your BJJ program? Will you be offering that again soon?
Q) I'm pretty out of shape. What should I do to get ready for my trip to Thailand?
A)  Whatever condition you arrive in, you will be in the best shape of your life after a
month with us. If you want to reduce the amount of pain you experience getting there
however, focus on sprints, calesthenics (pushups, situps, etc) and deep stretching
before you come. Just do as much as you can and don't worry too much about it.
You're either going to get in shape at home, or here... it might as well be here!
