Training at Chay Yai gym is very much an individual matter. Training is done Thai style,
one on one with a focus on proper technique and attention to detail.

Beginners:

One thing we always hear from our beginner fighters is that they really appreciate the way
the trainers correct their technique and give small, manageable tips throughout the
session. Beginners can run sprints or do breakdowns for endurance, but when you are on
the pads and the bag... the focus should be on proper technique. You will not hear
trainers screaming "FASTER MAHNN!! COME ON!! MORE POWER" like you would at
most Thai camps. Instead, pad work for our beginner students is done in a relaxed setting,
with the trainer stopping the fighter often to give advice or correct technique.

Beginners will be allowed to fully recover between rounds and will be given breaks more
often. It is important to push yourself, but it is also important to improve slowly but surely to
avoid injury.

Experienced Fighters:

While beginners will mostly be assigned to stations or activities by the trainers,
experienced fighters will more or less determine when, how and at what intensity they
train. Fighters at this level should be self motivated and capable of making good decisions
about their training. Each fighter will work with a trainer to create the workout that is right
for them. Get with a trainer (or another fighter) and let them know what you want to work
on. There are no shortage of sparring partners if you would like to work on your striking or
clenching, or a trainer will be happy to walk you through as many rounds as you like on
the pads or bag.

Fight Prep:

Fighters preparing for a professional bout will focus more on stamina, conditioning and
sparring as the date of the fight approaches. Padwork will begin to resemble sparring as
the trainers become more aggresive when you make mistakes. Generally, fighters will take
2 days off before a fight, although it will be up to each fighter to work out their "game plan".
